Supporting The King's School

Our culture of philanthropy which underpins the tradition of giving at The King’s School began with the School’s establishment in 1831 and continues today.

Giving ensures the vitality and uniqueness of school life at King's and supports the ongoing development of our unique school campus and programs, adding new chapters to our unique story.

Our philanthropic character is central to who we are, and many who have come to The King’s School have ensured that they leave it a better place than when they arrived.

A history of giving

At the centre of our rich heritage is our philanthropic character: our will to ensure that the School more than endures; it leads the way. Many who have come to The King’s School have ensured that they leave it a better place than when they arrived, as demonstrated through their generous gifts and benefactions.

Families have bestowed their own legacy. Scholarships and bursaries are bequeathed and invested.

People have given gates and windows, trees and benches. Others to libraries and pavilions, to laboratories and boarding houses. Rowers give an oar, musicians an instrument. Cattle and livestock, advice, expertise, direction and of course their time.

a generous community

Insight:

Through the School’s history, many with generous and giving hearts have enquired about the needs of the School and worked to meet them.

The King's School Foundation

The King’s School Foundation, together with the Development Office, is the body through which the philanthropic initiatives for the School are advanced. Its primary role is to ensure that it is investing in the School’s future.

The Foundation manages programs such as:

  • Annual Giving
  • Scholarships
  • Building Funds and Appeals
  • Bequests and Benefactions
  • Co-curricular and Support Group infrastructure

The Foundation’s efforts reach across the entirety of The King’s School community: Old Boys, parents and past parents, staff and friends are all essential parts of our philanthropic endeavours.

At The King’s School, our boys are privileged to enjoy many opportunities in an environment set on 320 acres in the middle of Australia's global city, Sydney. No one at King’s today can take credit for the extraordinary opportunities available at the School. It is because of the generosity and commitment of those that have come before us over the last 200 years. They have given enormously in time, energy, commitment and philanthropy.

As the beneficiaries of the foresight and commitment of generations of past families of The King's School, the community of 2024 have the chance to play its part in ensuring the School continues to provide opportunities, not only to the current generation but also to future generations.

This year on Gratitude Day, our focus will be the Chapel Pavilion project – a new facility with educational and community value that we hope to build in 2024. It will strongly connect the past, present and future of King’s as we head towards the School’s Bicentenary in 2031.
