Welcome to The King’s School

Whether you are already a good friend of the School, a potential friend, or browsing out of curiosity, The King's School is an extraordinary school that has been providing educational excellence since 1831.

Whilst it is true to say that King’s is Australia's oldest independent school and enjoys a peaceful setting in the heart of Australia's largest city, it is our humanity that makes King’s different. The King’s School is renowned for its vibrant and supportive community, the values we celebrate, our commitment to realising the potential of young men, and providing a balanced education that challenges each of our students to realise their full potential.

The King's School offers education to boys from Pre-Kindergarten (4 year of age) through to Year 12. A Christian community, King’s is also proudly one of the largest boarding schools in Australia with unique links to the rural sector, along with a very significant enrolment from the city as dayboys and weekly boarders.

We thank you for taking the time to visit our website and invite you to experience The King’s School for yourself. Morning tours run regularly throughout school terms and provide a wonderful opportunity way to meet our staff, hear about our exceptional learning programs and see how the facilities and resources of the School assist our students in their learning journey.

About the Headmaster

Mr Tony George

BSc, GradDipEd, MEd, MBA, BTh(Hons), DipMin

Tony George is the 20th Headmaster of The King’s School having taken up his position in July 2017.

Mr George is a respected educator with extensive experience in leading large schools. Tony is also well-practised in making a strong contribution to educational debate.

Mr George brings to The King’s School a strong background not only in education, but also in the business and not-for-profit sectors. This diversity of experience provides him with a range of strategic, commercial and leadership skills that will enable him to lead King’s as it seeks to equip our young students for life in a rapidly changing and complex world.

Mr George has tertiary quantifications in Science (BSc), Education (MEd, GradDipEd), Management (MBA), and Theology (BTh[Hons], DipMin). His doctoral studies (PhD) are in the Philosophy of Education with respect to the collaborative roles that religious, philosophic and scientific modes of human knowledge contribute to our understanding of education. His educational experience in the sciences, social sciences, languages and literature means that he is very well placed to lead and engage broadly across the curriculum.

Married to Jen with four adult children, Mr George’s passion is to see children grow in Christian character and integrity. He very much wants to know all the students of The King’s School, day and boarding, their interests and aspirations.

Over the coming weeks, Mr and Mrs George look forward to meeting and consulting with the School community, working collaboratively to build a strategic vision that will position The King’s School to continue to provide educational excellence for generations to come.
