As part of their transition to the Senior School, the Year 6 boys have been part of a Cadet exposure program, including two weeks of lessons focused on marching, bushcraft and physical fitness. The Cadet Corps is a significant part of Senior School life and facilitates the development of leadership skills.
As a final stage, the experience culminated with the boys pitching their tents on the Massie Fields and embarking on an expedition around Lake Parramatta. Throughout the expedition, the boys had the opportunity to speak with Senior School Cadet Leaders about life in the Senior School and their experience in Cadets.
After dining out on their ration packs, evening activities followed and the boys camped out for the night. A thunderstorm overhead did not scare off our Year 6 Students, however they were a little weary in the morning from the restless night. A pancake breakfast awaited them as a treat on Friday morning.
It was a valuable challenge and introduction for the boys to The King’s School Cadet Corps in preparation for their time in the Senior School.
