For National Skills Week, we are highlighting Kingsmen building their skills through Vocational Education and Training pathways.
Our programs in Construction, Primary Industries, Business Services and Fitness give students practical experience that goes beyond the classroom, providing a direct pathway into meaningful, in-demand careers.
Many of our senior students are also extending their learning through TAFE, exploring opportunities in Automotive, Electrotechnology, Plumbing, Real Estate and Financial Service. From building foundations to wiring circuits and negotiating property deals, they are stepping into industries that need their skills.
Rich in Year 12 (pictured right), has been pursuing an automotive course at TAFE as part of the TVET program. Reflecting on the experience, he says “We have been working on all sorts of cars, motors and engines, learning how to repair them, replace parts and diagnose issues. I’ve really enjoyed the hands-on learning, and I feel like it’s helped me significantly in choosing my next career choice.”
Harrison, also in Year 12 (pictured second from left), has been pursuing a real estate course and has already gained valuable industry experience and connections. “I’ve been learning about general real estate practice including rules, regulations and ethics” he shares. “When I did my work experience, the licensee in charge offered me a position in their real estate practice and he said I’m always welcome to come back if I want to pursue working in real estate after completing additional training.”
When asked what advice they would give to younger Kingsmen considering VET courses, the boys encouraged them to explore the options available to discover where their interests lie.
This National Skills Week, we celebrate the ambition, skill and determination of our students. With growing shortages in vital industries, like Health and Aged Care, Construction and Trades, Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing and Education, there has never been a more important time to champion hands-on learning.
