For the Love of Cricket

Ethan, 2029 Graduate

Ethan, a 2024 Year 7 student, was recently presented the D.A WIBURD Award for outstanding primary sportsboy for his exceptional cricketing performances both for The King’s School Preparatory School and the New South Wales Combined Independent Schools Sports Council (CIS) team.

Having received the award for his 2022 exploits, Ethan made history, becoming the first boy to have received it twice when he won it again in 2023.

Ethan was also awarded the NSW CIS Red Bar award after he captained both the NSW CIS Primary School team and the NSW Primary School team.

As captain of the CIS team at the state championships Ethan achieved best scores of 83 and 53 with the bat, along with best bowling figures of 6 for 5 with the ball. His ability also saw him the second-highest run-scorer for NSW at the Australian Primary School Championships, with wickets in three matches.

Ethan’s love for cricket started from the age of five and he’s been passionate about it ever since.

He created history at The King’s School Preparatory School by being the first ever Year 3 boy to play in a match against the Old Buffers team, as well as representing the Prep First XI side in the same year.

Ethan went on to represent the First XI side for four consecutive years, Years 3 to 6 and was awarded the Cricket Cup for three consecutive years while at the Preparatory School.

Away from cricket, Ethan continues to embrace the King’s School way, welcoming each opportunity presented, having won a Poetry Recitation competition, been runner-up in a Public Speaking competition and appointed School Captain of the Preparatory School.
