Congratulations to the Class of 2024, who received their HSC results today. The King’s School has seen exceptional results – with this year’s median ATAR, 89.9 being the best in the School’s history.
The Class of 2024 has been extremely diligent in their efforts, staying focused on their studies without compromising their co-curricular involvement across the School. They should be justifiably proud.
A comprehensive summary of results will be issued over the coming days, but for now, we are delighted to share some of our exceptional results:
- The class achieved 459 Band 6 and E4 results.
- Ethan Zhu and Johnson Tang achieved the highest ATARs in the Year with perfect scores of 99.95. Ethan also earned a First-in-Course, topping the state for German Extension.
- James Napoli was named First-in-Course for Agriculture as an accelerated student.
- Eleven students achieved13 State Rankings in the Top Achievers list in eleven subjects: Agriculture (2), Business Studies, Construction Examination, English Advanced, English Standard, Food Technology, German Extension, Mathematics Advanced, Music 2, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education, Software Design and Development (2).
- 33 boys have been named in the All-Rounder’s list for achieving Band 6 in ten or more units.
- 170 students were named on the Distinguished Achievers list achieving at least one Band 6 result. This includes Year 11 accelerated students and some non-ATAR students who sat optional examinations.
- 100% of students in French Extension and German Extension achieved a Band 6 result.
- In another year of outstanding English results,
- 16 students (89%) achieved a Band 6 in English Extension 1, the best result in the School’s history.
- All English Extension 1 students (100%) achieved an E3 or E4 result.
- 60 students (40%) achieved a Band 6 in Advanced English.
- 138 students (93%) of students in English Advanced achieved the results in the top two bands (Band 5 or Band 6)
- Three students (60%) achieved a Band 6 in EALD.
- Mathematics results were some of the strongest in the School’s history, with 79.5% of students across the following Mathematics courses achieving results in the top two bands (Band 5 or Band 6).
- Mathematics Standard 2: 36 Band 6 results (27%), 49 Band 5 results (37%)
- Mathematics Advanced: 41 Band 6 results (53%), 24 Band 5 results (31%)
- Mathematics Extension 1: 41 E4 results (59%), 24 E3 results (35%)
- Mathematics Extension 2: 22 E4 Results (76%), 7 E3 results (24%)
- Legal Studies achieved almost double the State percentage for Band 5 & 6 results (85.7% vs 43.22%).
- 55 nominations for subjects with practical components for possible inclusion in displays or performances: Drama (10), Industrial Technology (21), Music (12) and Visual Arts (12).
- Two students were selected for Art Express.
- The following departments achieved a 100% success rate for Band 5 and Band 6 results across the following courses: English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D), English Extension 1, English Extension 2, Mathematics Extension 2, History Extension, Music 1, Music 2, Music Extension, Software Design and Development.
- Physics results were outstanding, with 19 students (40%) achieving a Band 6 – the best result on record.
- Chemistry results were the strongest in the history of the school with 48 students (33%) achieving a Band 6.
- Earth and Environmental Science achieved a record result: 25% of students received a Band 6.
- Business Studies achieved the most Band 6 results (28) on record.
