Cricket at The King's School
Cricket at King's has developed considerably in recent times and we have a healthy following for the game in a variety of forms including twenty/20 cricket, one day and two day games.
The development of the training facilities on the Doyle Ground enables all teams to train meaningfully and move from skill to skill without interruption or delay. Synthetic pitches on a well designed layout reduce down time caused by weather or seasonal difficulties.
The irrigation of the whole complex using recycled and harvested water sees the School able to host up to 10 matches simultaneously on magnificent surfaces. There are few venues in the country able to boast such an expansive cricket facility in top condition.
The appointment of keen and highly qualified teaching staff, supplemented by expert consultant coaches, enables the boys to benefit and develop their skills under the watchful eye of someone who can encourage and correct technique as required.
King's has a proud tradition in this sport and has many famous premierships to demonstrate this. The JS White Oval is one of the best cricket grounds in Sydney and the boys in the School, and their opponents, never forget a day spent belting leather at a white picket fence.
We have been particularly successful in recent times and never seek to give any opposition an easy day at bat nor in the field. The spirit and camaraderie developed has seen a substantial number of our Old Boys maintain an interest in the sport and represent well in Sydney Grade and representative competitions.
