Putting humanitarian skills into practice

From Year 11, boys at King’s have the choice of continuing with Cadet Corps or switching to our Community Outreach Program. Every year many boys take up the chance to work in the community, gaining experience and skills that they can put to use in later life.

This year our Community Outreach students got the entire School involved in their program, taking donations of iPods and iPads throughout the term to give to the nursing home for their residents to use. Music has proven health benefits for the elderly and the boys had a great time showing the residents how to play music through headphones.

In the final week of Term 1, the boys participated in Falls Prevention Week at Chesalon, culminating in a Walkathon and Music Morning. The boys had a great time getting to know and spend time with the residents – thank you to Anglicare Chesalon Beecroft for hosting them throughout the term.
