Scholarship and Boarding Bursaries

The King's School Scholarship and Boarding Bursaries

Scholarship and Boarding Bursaries Introduction

The King's School is fortunate to be able to offer a range of scholarships and bursaries for entry to Years 7 - 11. Many of these awards have been established during the School's history as a result of the generosity of parents, friends, associated organisations and bequests. The majority of Scholarships are awarded for entry into Year 7 although other entry levels are also available. Up to 30 scholarships may be awarded in any year.

Applications for Scholarships

Applications for Scholarships may be made at any stage of the year, but the majority of awards are offered following the Scholarships Assessment Examinations and Interviews which are held between December and February for boys to enter Year 7 12 months later (ie for Year Year 5 /6 boys) Examinations are conducted by the EduTest organisation based in Melbourne (www.edutest.com.au). A number of Scholarships to attend The King's School are also means-tested and require submission of confidential information to the Bursar.

Apply for Scholarships registrations online, please click here.

Scholarships

Scholarships have an academic focus. The primary criteria for an award is the result of a competitive examination conducted by an independent testing organization. Supporting documentation detailing interest and achievements in performing arts, sport and leadership may be taken into consideration following academic ranking.

A full Scholarship allows for the remission of tuition fees throughout a boy's secondary school career, dependant on satisfactory progress, whilst part scholarships are also awarded.

Bursaries

Bursaries are usually relevant to boarder applicants and typically assist with between 50% and 100% of boarding fees to attend the School. Bursaries also demand academic standards, but take into consideration all-round interest, achievements and the financial needs of the applicant's family.

  • Scholarships to enter the Preparatory School are not available.
  • Family Admission Fee
Boys awarded scholarships pay a reduced Family Admission Fee.
  • Tenure
Tenure of any scholarship or bursary is subject to satisfactory conduct and progress.
  • The availability of scholarships
The availability of scholarships and bursaries and application details are advertised between September and November each year.
